Two Knights Defence — defence for Black

More Two Knights for Black: the 5.O-O Nxe4 lines, the Perreux, the Steinitz and Qf3 sidelines after ...Na5, Morphy's d3, and slow d3 systems. 8 lines for Black: Perreux 5.Ng5, 5.O-O Nxe4 7.Bxd5, Steinitz 9.Nh3, Against 8.Qf3, Morphy 6.d3, Canal 7.Nc3, Quiet d3 with ...Bc5, Quiet d3 with ...g6.

Popularity rank #16 of 64 · Free defence · against 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4

In the ...Na5 lines Black gives the d5 pawn back and gets an e4 pawn that cramps White, plus open lines for both bishops. In the d4 lines the centre opens immediately and the e-file decides a lot. In d3 lines the classic e4/e5 Open Game structure stays in place.

Watch out: Count the attackers on f7 every move until you castle. A knight on g5 plus a bishop on c4 is a real threat, not a bluff.

A chess trainer that remembers what you missed

Most games between club players are decided by a short tactic — a fork you didn't see, a pin you walked into, a back rank you forgot to air out. Endgame closes the loop: learn the pattern on the Path, use it against a bot, get graded, and drill the miss until it sticks.
