Popularity rank #38 of 64 · Endgame Pro defence · against 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 Nc6

After ...cxd4 Black has a half-open c-file and White a half-open d-file. With ...g6 and ...Bg7, the long diagonal points straight at the d4 knight all game. The Maroczy (c4 and e4) gives White space; Black plays a slow, solid game and waits for a break.

Watch out: Look for the ...Ng4 trick whenever White has Be3 and Bc4: it hits the e3 bishop and opens the long diagonal on d4.

A chess trainer that remembers what you missed

Most games between club players are decided by a short tactic — a fork you didn't see, a pin you walked into, a back rank you forgot to air out. Endgame closes the loop: learn the pattern on the Path, use it against a bot, get graded, and drill the miss until it sticks.
